Observation: Paul puts his life and his priorities into perspective. The only thing in his life that is worth something to him is knowing Jesus Christ! Everything else is worthless, garbage, nothing! He repents and turns his back completely on everything he had hoped for. He turns his back on every religious tradition and ceremony that made him feel secure. That's true repentance!
Application: Ever since I became born again, this is a truth that God has been revealing to me. THE ONLY THING THAT I POSSESS IS JESUS CHRIST!!!! The only thing I have, that will last forever, is my savior! I love my wife and my daughter very much, but I love them with the love that God has given me to love them with. Because I love my wife and daughter so much, I want them to love Jesus too, and I want them to love Jesus more than they love me. I didn't die on the cross for them, I didn't create them. It is very important that we love God far more than anything or anyone!
"If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine." Matthew 10:37
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for making me a new creation, thank you for sending your only Son to take my punishment. I pray for my friends and family who don't know you. I pray for the people who think they know you, I was one of those people once. Thank you for the opportunity to share the Good News about how we can be made right with you. The answer is Jesus Christ! All glory, honor and praise be to your name. Amen
