(Matthew 15:13-14) Jesus replied, “Every plant not planted by my heavenly Father will be uprooted, so ignore them. They(the Pharisees) are blind guides leading the blind, and if one blind person guides another, they will both fall into a ditch.”
Observation:
Jesus is saying that anyone who claims to be a child of God, but is not called by Him, will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven. In this verse he is referring to the Pharisees who are complaining about Jesus Disciples. In Matthew 15:2 the Pharisees ask Jesus "Why do your disciples disobey our age-old tradition? For they ignore our tradition of ceremonial washing before they eat." The Pharisees knew scripture, they knew the Law of Moses, and they knew tradition but, they did not recognize Jesus!
Application:
A lot of people today are like the Pharisees, even people in our own churches. I was one of them. A modern day Pharisee is someone who claims to know Jesus with their mouth, but does not really know Him. They come to church every Sunday and might even be volunteers, but their more worried about the outside of the cup than the inside. Jesus is saying that every plant not planted by God himself, meaning a Born Again child of God with a new heart, will be uprooted and thrown into a ditch(Hell). We need to examine ourselves, 2 Corinthians 13:5 says:
Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank you for another day! Thank you for my salvation! Thank you for keeping my family safe, thank you for planting me into your kingdom! I pray for my friends and family and co-workers who are not saved. Give me the opportunity to share the Good News with them. Show me what you have for my life. In Jesus name, Amen!
