Scripture:
Exodus 4:21 "When you arrive back in Egypt, go to Pharaoh and perform all the miracles I have empowered you to do. But I will harden his heart so he will refuse to let the people go.
Observation:
God says, "...but I will harden his heart..." This is amazing to me! God actually takes over Pharaohs will so that Gods plan can be fulfilled. If God can harden someones heart, then he can soften someones heart! Earlier in the chapter Moses is arguing with God about how he's not qualified to represent God, he was looking at all of his own flaws and shortcomings.
Application:
Okay... here's the point: even though God has totally changed me into a new person, there are still some things about my self that I don't like. Now... I am powerless to change my self because I have a hard heart, but guess what, if God hardened Pharaohs heart, then he can soften my heart. I have to bring all my weaknesses and shortcomings to God, only he can change me! It's the process of Santification.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank you for making me a new creature, thank you for softening my heart in so many areas. I pray that you would continue to make me more like Jesus everyday. I know I stumble everyday, but I'm so glad that my life is in your hands and not my own. I pray that you would soften the hearts of my family, friends and co-workers. In Jesus name, Amen!
