Am I afraid to proclaim?

Scripture:
Matthew 10:27 What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops. And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.

Observation:
Jesus tells the disciples to go and spread the message of the kingdom. He also tells them not to hold back or be afraid. He doesn't tell them to lock themselves up in a room and read the Bible, he doesn't tell them to volunteer in the local synagogue. Of course these are all good things, but it's interesting that Jesus told them to do something different. He actually wanted them, to actually say certain things, to certain people, with their very own mouths.

Application:
This verse is very convicting for me, because I know that this verse doesn't just apply to those men in that time. This verse applies to me in my everyday life. I was thinking about how I don't share the good news about Jesus because of fear. Or I make excuses, "I might get in trouble at work, you can't talk about religion", or "If I tell my Jehovah Witness family members about Jesus they're gonna hate me and our family won't be the same". Jesus is telling me not to fear those things or those people.

I was thinking about how I have a great deal of respect for street preachers. I know what you're thinking, street preachers are those crazy guys who hate gay people and tell everybody they're going to hell. I'm talking about good street preachers, because there are good ones. Jesus and the Apostle Paul were both street preachers, and I believe that people that are willing to leave the comforts of their own homes, and be mocked for the name of Christ, is exactly what Jesus is calling for.

Questions:
  1. What Jesus tells me in the dark, do I say openly in the light?
  2. Am I proclaiming the good news from the housetops?
  3. Am I proclaiming the good news at all?
  4. Is Christianity just a 1 hour daily devotional time that I do all by myself in the dark?
  5. Do I go out of my way to hide Jesus from the unbelieving world?
  6. Do my co-workers know what Jesus has done for them, out of my mouth?
  7. Do I care that most of the people I know are on their way to hell?
