God the Son

Scripture:
Hebrews 1:8-10 (God the Father speaking) But to the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever. You rule with a scepter of justice. You love justice and hate evil. Therefore, O God, your God has anointed you, pouring out the oil of joy on you more than on anyone else." He also says to the Son, "In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundation of the earth and made the heavens with your hands.

Observation:
This Scripture blew me away! If you look at it closely, you will see that God the Father is talking to God the Son(Jesus). God the Father calls his Son "God" and he also calls his Son "Lord". Now, this might seem confusing but we have to understand, that the foundation of our faith is that JESUS is God, the 2nd person of the Holy Trinity! I don't have time to go into detail about the trinity but let me say this: God himself became a man(Jesus Christ), walked among His creation, and died on a cross for the sins of the world, Colossians 1:15-20.

Application:
Why is this so important? My grandmother who is a Jehovah's Witness says "Jesus is not God!" The Pharisees who killed Jesus, killed him because he was claiming to be God. To know Jesus is to know that he is God Almighty! Isaiah 9:6 says: For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulders, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. This scripture was pointing to Jesus who was to come. I have asked people who have been Christians for many years this question: "Is Jesus God?", and many people had no idea.

Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank you for dying on the cross for my sins, thank you for making a way for me to spend eternity in heaven with you. Thank you for saving me from the fires of hell. Help me to share the Good News of the cross with my family, friends and co-workers. Thank you for those that you are saving, for the eyes you are opening. Teach me how to be a husband, and a father. In Jesus name, Amen!
