A lot of people have a twisted view of God. When they think of God, they think of an old man with a long white beard. Or maybe they think God is like a cop who wants to bust us for everything we do wrong. Some people are afraid to pray to God because they feel that God could never love them because of their many sins. Others believe that if there is a God, there is really no way to know anything about Him.
The Bible actually gives us a different picture of God. The Bible tells us that God is love! Whatever your view of God is, I ask you to open your mind for a second and let me tell you about the God who created you. Let me tell you about God, the creator of heaven and earth. God has given us a way to know all about him, The Holy Bible.
This is what the Bible says about God:
1 John 4:16
God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.
1 John 4:9
God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him.
1 John 1:5
God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.
Ephesians 2:4-5
But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead.
John 3:16
For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
So you see, God loves you. And to show his love for you he became a man, Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ died on a cross 2,000 years ago to pay the price for your sins. Jesus knew that a day would come when you would be judged for everything you have done. Almost like coming before a judge in a courtroom. The Bible says if you put your trust in Jesus Christ all of your sins will be wiped away, you will be forgiven! This is Good News.
The bad news is that the people who reject God will spend eternity in a place called Hell, or the Lake of Fire! Please think about these things because our lives are so short and once you die it is too late! A lot of people say this, "I could never believe in a God who would send people to Hell!" Well, let me just say this, the Bible tells us that God does not want you to go to Hell.
2 Peter 3:9
... he is being patient for your sake. He doesn't want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.
