For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths.
Joel Osteen is the most popular preacher in America and he has one of the biggest churches in the world. But check this out, he's not sure if Jesus is the only way! I have had many people get mad at me for talking about Joel Osteen, but I have to say, he is a wolf in sheeps clothing. Many Christians love Joel even though he believes that there's really no way to know who will go to heaven, Mormon, Atheist, Hindu, Jew, Muslim. "Only God knows their heart", he says and he also says it's not his place to judge. But if I remember correctly the primary job of a pastor is to shepherd the souls of Jesus' flock. How can Joel be a Pastor, but not know these things that are so clear in the Bible. These are "Heaven and Hell" issues. The Bible is very clear on who will go to heaven and who won't. Check out this video with Larry King and count how many times Joel says "I don't know".

What Joel is saying is interesting because if Jesus didn't claim to be the only way to the Father then he would have never been crucified. If Jesus didn't claim to be the only way then all of the apostles wouldn't have been martyred for the name of Christ. It is really sad because people don't see the obvious difference between Joel's message and Jesus' message. Another thing that worries me about Joel Osteen is that people of all religions, and even people who don't believe in God, love him. Jesus said: (John 15:19) "The world would love you as one of it's own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you."
False teachers always focus on having a good life right now, and they always focus on health, wealth and prosperity. Jesus and the disciples never focused on their Best Life Now and they never worried about how their investment portfolio's were doing. Jesus said this: (Luke 17:33) "If you cling to your life, you will lose it, and if you let your life go, you will save it."
Luke 6:24-26
But woe to you who are rich,
for you have already received your comfort.
Woe to you who are well fed now,
for you will go hungry.
Woe to you who laugh now,
for you will mourn and weep.
Woe to you when all men speak well of you,
for that is how their fathers treated the false prophets.

A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.
