Stay Alert

Scripture:

1 Thessalonians 5:2-4  For you know quite well that the day of the Lord's return will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night. When people are saying, "Everything is peaceful and secure," then disaster will fall on them suddenly as a pregnant woman's labor pains begin. And there will be no escape.

Observation:

Jesus can return at any moment. Some people will be caught up in air, but most will be left behind. People that I love will be left behind. People that I see everyday will be left behind. I know the truth of the Gospel. I know the truth about heaven, hell, sin and salvation.

Application:

This scripture gives me a good perspective on what's important in my life. Things like reading and praying and journalling and going to church are very important. But what's the point of all these things if I can't share the Good News of Christ with my co-workers and family. What's the point of filling my head with knowledge of the Bible if I can't share it with the lost. I guess I could just invite people to church, but what if they don't come. What if Pastor Steve doesn't talk about the cross of Christ on the day they come to church. Jesus warned people, the prophets warned people, John the Baptist warned people. They did it out of love.

Prayer:

Dear Lord, I don't want people to go to hell because I kept the Good News of Jesus to myself. I don't want to be a hypocrite and keep my mouth shut. You have done so much for me. You forgave me of my sins and given me eternal life. That is the best news in the world. Give me the boldness to share with those who are lost. Give me the courage to not water down this powerful message of the Gospel. In Jesus name, Amen!
